Is This What We Call Civilized?
Today, I release a song that’s been burning inside me for months.
It’s called Is This What We Call Civilized? and it’s my protest anthem for the world we’re living in right now.
🌍 Why I Wrote It
Every day I see contradictions that cut me to the bone.
Families sleeping on the streets while luxury towers rise.
Children going hungry while billionaires buy their next yacht.
We call it progress, we call it pride — but where does the conscience hide?
I couldn’t stay silent. Silence is complicity, and music has always been my way of fighting back.
🎶 The Sound
This track is pop and electro-pop — bright enough to fill a club, sharp enough to cut through the noise.
The beat pulses with urgency, and the chorus is meant to be shouted back, a demand as much as a question:
Is this what we call civilized?
When hearts go cold and truth’s denied?
It’s the kind of song I want people to dance to, but also to wake up to.
🔥 The Message
I wrote this song because I believe music can challenge us as much as it can comfort us.
We don’t need more greed — we need more hands, more seeds, more compassion.
Civilization isn’t skyscrapers and stock markets. Civilization is how we treat each other. And right now, we are failing.
But I also believe in change. I believe in fire. I believe that when we raise our voices together, we can shift the world.
🎧 Out Now Everywhere
Is This What We Call Civilized? is out today on all streaming platforms, with the official video on YouTube.
I hope you’ll listen, scream, and share it. Let it be a soundtrack for every march, every protest, every quiet moment when you feel the world isn’t fair and you’re aching for something better.
Thank you for standing with me. Thank you for listening.
This song belongs to all of us.
Love,
Mathilde 🌹
